Square Root Function

Description

The HammerCores by Altera square root function is a compact, high performance megafunction, optimized for Altera APEXTM 20K, FLEX® 10K, and FLEX 6000 devices. For input and output precision, the function is fully parameterizable. You can use any input precision value greater than six bits. Any bit value for output precision is acceptable. If an output precision greater than (input precision/2) is used, the most significant (input precision/2) bits contain the integer portion of the root. The bits following contain the fractional portion.

The function is single-cycle combinatorial, and requires no memory. The following table shows input and output precision examples.
